We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Zagreb in the morning and start the Croatian Castles Day Trip, driving through the hilly countryside towards our first stop – the Trakošćan castle.
Trakošćan is the most visited castle in Croatia and the region.
Situated among hills and mountain slopes, this Medieval fortification provides a real Disney world experience.
The castle is built on a hill, so you can see it from far away, and is surrounded by a vast lake.
Today the castle is a museum, providing an interesting insight into the life of Medieval nobility in Croatia.
Lunch in restaurant Grešna Gorica in the small town of Desinić.
This beautiful restaurant is located on top of a hill with many tables outside in the garden, so when it’s nice weather you can sit under the meadows and enjoy wonderful view over green hills and castles in the distance.
The food is home-made using the fresh ingredients. The restaurant offers wide selection of best local dishes, wines and apperitives.
Our next stop is the castle of Veliki Tabor, very notable for its red turrets.
Like all other castles in Croatia, Veliki Tabor was also owned by Croatia noble families throughout the Middle Ages and afterwards up until the end of the Second World War.
Enjoy a guided tour of the castle and make sure to keep you camera close – you’ll need it!
