Home » Pompeii to Herculaneum Twin Centre Holiday
Whether you love to explore the architecture, art, food, or even if you prefer just to relax – we’ll help you arrange your dream Italian holiday.
You can choose to stay in either Sorrento or Naples for the duration of your trip, both are located within the Bay of Naples and within close proximity to Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Sorrento is a coastal town perched on cliff-tops, overlooking the busy marinas below, and with wider views across the bay of Naples.
The historic centre is a maze of narrow alleyways, which lead you towards the Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square.
By contrast, Naples is a bustling city of almost one million inhabitants, and is the third-largest city in Italy.
It has important art and architecture dating back centuries, and highlights include the Duomo di San Gennaro cathedral, filled with frescoes, and the 13th-century Castel Nuovo.
Both Sorrento and Naples are ideally located for your day-trip to the lost cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were destroyed in AD 79 by the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius.
The tour of Pompeii includes the archaeological area, gladiators barracks, ancient pedestrian areas, theatres, thermopolium, the Forum, and access to the museum to see the famous body moulds.
At Herculaneum, you’ll see the ancient thermal baths, and the House of Neptune, which hosts an ancient shop and intricate mosaics.
You won’t want to leave Italy without tasting an authentic hand-made Italian pizza in Naples, or enjoying a chilled out drive along the stunning scenery of the Amalfi Coast, so we are happy to add on additional excursions to suit you.

Take a step back in time, with a day-trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were both destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD.
The cities were buried under a blanket of ash for centuries, leaving everything preserved, just as it was almost 2000 years ago.
A must-see for any history buff.
Did you know that it takes little over an hour to get from Naples to Rome by train?
Make the most of your package holiday to Pompeii and Herculaneum by adding on this trip to the historic centre of the Roman Empire.
Our guide will meet you there and give you a tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, before you return by train to Naples or Sorrento.
Sorrento and Naples are both located within close proximity to Italy’s famous Amalfi Coast.
Book our additional tour which takes you driving through some of the most stunning coastline villages, with views across the sea to die for.
The tour will stop for a break in Positano where you can photograph the famous colourful buildings on the hillside.
The island of Capri is famed for its rugged landscape, as well as being a popular celebrity destination, with its many designer fashion boutiques, upmarket hotels and luxury yachts.
One of our favourite attractions is the Blue Grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue, the result of sunlight passing through an underwater cave.
If you are staying in Naples, we will show you around the sights of Sorrento; and if you have chosen accommodation in Sorrento, we will give you the option of a tour around Naples.
If you have booked our additional excursions, then you’ll need some time at the end of your holiday for some well earned rest and relaxation.
The entire day is free to spend as you choose, so you can soak up some sun on the beach, or do more exploring – it’s up to you!
We will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
Or, if you like, we are happy to add on additional nights in another Italian or European city.
